Position Overview:
Our client is a consulting company working for a leading global entertainment company specializing in interactive experiences for a diverse audience. As part of our ongoing expansion, we’re seeking dynamic professionals to join our team in tackling the technical challenges inherent in our industry.
As a Data/DevOps Engineer, you’ll drive innovation and efficiency within our technology ecosystem. Collaborating with cross-functional teams from the USA, you’ll contribute to developing and optimising our digital platforms, ensuring seamless user experiences and robust technical solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Please be aware that attending meetings during afternoon or evening hours is essential for this position, as most of the team is based on the US West Coast (Los Angeles and Seattle).
- Design and develop innovative data solutions on AWS and Databricks platforms, leveraging DBT and PySpark.
- Partner with data engineering teams to debug, enhance, and ensure optimal performance of ETL processes.
- Take ownership of technical exploration and prototyping in high-uncertainty areas, helping guide strategic direction.
- Explore and analyze critical business or technical challenges, providing actionable insights and proposed strategies.
- Document architectural and design decisions, plan implementation steps, and select the most suitable technologies.
- Actively engage with production environments, ensuring stability and reliability of deployed systems.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional experience in software or data engineering roles.
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline.
- Strong Python skills, particularly for data manipulation and analytics.
- Practical knowledge of DBT for data transformation workflows.
- Solid commercial experience with PySpark and working within the Databricks ecosystem.
- Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools like Terraform.
- Strong collaboration and communication abilities, especially in cross-functional teams.
Bonus Points For:
- Background in game development or experience supporting online multiplayer platforms.
- Hands-on experience with Tableau Cloud, including setup, migration, and maintenance.
- Knowledge of orchestration tools like Apache Airflow, Astronomer, and Unity Catalog.
- Proven success working across multi-disciplinary teams delivering data-centric solutions.
- Expertise in handling diverse, large-scale datasets efficiently.
- Track record of diagnosing and enhancing complex data pipelines.
- Working experience with a mix of data storage technologies such as SQL databases (MySQL, Postgres), document-oriented systems (ElasticSearch), and cloud-based/distributed storage (HDFS, S3, GCS).
